The National 25 mile time trial championship (Juniors, Woman
and Men) was held on our local course the D25/3 today, 3rd June 2007. The
well subscribed entry list included our own dynamic duo, Arthur and Terry.
The Phoenix C.C. turned out in force to Marshal the Motorway Island and to
cheer on the club riders.The day was warm and overcast with the wind helping
towards the Motorway island, the pair were going very well indeed, Terry was
gaining on his minute man and Arthur was catching his two minute man. At the
split arthur was ahead by only 4 seconds but at the finish this had increased
to 29 seconds with a time of 1:00:16. Terry was not far behind with another
great ride of 1:00:45. Well done lads.
At the other end of the field the final twenty riders were only just starting
but the world famous Graeme Obree was a DNS.
During the race all the top riders were very closely matched but there
was a distinct advantage of about 25 seconds at the motorway Island to
Jason McIntyre(The Edge RT)to the next fastest, Michael Hutchinson (In
Gear Quickvit RT). This lead was pulled back to 17 seconds and at the
finish Jason won the event with a remarkable time of 00:49:44
Micheal Hutchinson was second with 00:50:01 and Chris Newton (Recycling.co.uk
RT) was third with 00:50:47.
