Bobby Lloyd ten tonight, 6 Members facing a blustery race with a slow drag back from the Rainford Island and an even harder finish, "and so say all of us", is heard from the tea and biscuit hut.
Sometimes I wonder if the wind has any effect on Arthur or Terry, both producing awe inspiring rides and gaining the respect of the struggling minions trying to catch up..
Terry once again narrowing the gap between himself and Arthur, this week it's down to 16 seconds.
Kieran, same as last ten. Keith, consistent mid 24's but in a rut. John admitting he's not up to full power, YET, and Sam...not been out for a while but only back 23 seconds on a grotty night.
Thanks to Keith Linge for braving the wind and rain on a lonely stretch of dual carriageway to give us the photo album from this link HERE. (to return here, close album window)

Short Sleeves and sunglasses this evening. Sunshine and clear blue sky is what we have, I think summer has arrived. A few of the usual Phoenix riders are away this week so there were only three Phoenix out tonight from 17, John, Sam and Keith.
John was not sure how his legs would function after competing in a 100 mile TT on Sunday. Sam was still on the move in the right direction and was hoping to improve on his season's best time. Keith was anticipating a reasonable ride but the wind was not in his favourite direction so a PB was not expected.
In the end, with a late surge for the line he finished with 23:54, John was next but his legs did not function as he hoped they would, finished with 24:48.
Sam, did improve again and finished with 25:30, his best time of the season for the Tuesday tens.
The Phoenix team of supporters were on the course, cheering us on and marshalling too, thanks to all from the three of us.
Back at the hut, Joan had the tea and biscuits ready, which were much appreciated.
Keith Linge is also away tonight and the photos 'wot I took' are below.

Cracking night, sunny and warm, officially a floater as decided by George and Dave.
Although If they had been cycling, like most cyclist do... they would have detected a slight breeze blowing toward the motorway Island. For some this is the best direction.
For Arthur it doesn't matter whichever way it blows he still produces the goods, just 2 seconds over 23:00 and perhaps not fully recovered from completing a PB 4 hour 20 mins 100 miles TT on Sunday. The course was very similar to his previous attempt, but on this occasion he enlisted the help of a SatNav strapped to his handlebars...

While the terrier (Terry) is away the Keith will play, taking over the role of snapping at Arthur's heels, finishing next with 23:50. Kieran, finding it hard was not far away at 23:55 followed by John with a very short 24. Sam picking up speed again competing in 25:56.
It was good to have the support of Dave and George, cheering us on at the Wheatsheaf.

Later it was good to hear a very short version, by Arthur, of 'Mac the Knife' aptly accompanied by his feet with a little jig, as caught on camera. George, quick to follow, after detecting the start of a shower, concluded the show with his rehearsed performance of, 'Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head' ( also caught on camera).
The remaining cyclists soon disappeared....

Sunshine and blue sky, what else could you ask for on a Tuesday evening Ten?
We got a bit of wind, nothing really serious but just enough to let you know it was windy.
All out tonight, the six regulars locked in battle against the clock. Arthur had a sticky shifter and Terry had a terror tractor, neither failing to quell their speed. Terry achieved a PB(23:13) but Arthur went even faster (22:53), leaving Terry still snapping at his heels but not yet able to catch. Keith next with a desperate dash for the line to finish with 23:58.
Kieran, at a stressful time, was not happy with his 24:34 and was almost hoping for a DNF in response to a call from the midwife. The Von Leach Express, tonight was only a local service, finishing with 24:41. Sam, recovering from a wet 50 miler on Saturday completed in 25:56.

Arthur Stamped his Arthurity on the tens series tonight by reaching the maximum points of 160 after blitzing around the course in 23:23. This was done with complete disregard for the wind, which was strong and head on from the rainford Island. Well done Arth.. respect is duly deserved.
Terry, back after a 'fulfilling' holiday went back a bit, as did Keith.
Kieran, back after his maternity leave had not lost much of his fitness and was only a few seconds slower than his last outing.
Sam, brave man for starting but in the end he was a DNF.
For me it was the hardest night of the year, but others prefer the wind blowing head on from the Rainford Island.
