Bobbly Lloyd Cup ten mile TT
- 8th July 2008
Hello again and welcome to the Phoenix C.C.'s brief review and results from
tonight's Bobby Lloyd ten mile time trial. We had 15 riders and they all finished...
there, that was brief, wasn't it..?
Bye.
Well I could drag it out a bit more and say thanks to
the support of our groupies, Buttie and the Massen and for the cheerleaders
out on the Rainford Island.
Thanks to Keith for photographing the Phoenix squad, (Arthur and Keith).
The movie tonight is GURANTEED to be a short download,
just over 1 meg and with GOOD AUDIO, I promise. Go on try it.. CLICK

Arthur fought his fears tonight and actually scraped his knee sliders as he
leaned his bike over around the top island and gained those precious seconds
to achieve the magical 22 minutes and a few seconds....58 of them. Well done
Arth.
When I got back to the hut the groupies were congratulating me on a great
time... 23:21 until the timekeeper checked again and added on another minute,
ah well, it was nice while it lasted.
Oh, I forgot, it was dry but blowing a half gale, not
a great night for fast times unless your name is P.Grindley and you finished
with 21:38. Nice ride Sir. Mr. Grindley was my following minute man and he
shot past me me well before the half way point on the fast bit. Awesome!!

A good turnout tonight with 14 riders starting. A deceptively
hard breeze, although not very strong it was directly head on in the recognised
grovely sections, which caused problems for the not so lucky number 13 (me)
coincidently also the 13th photograph on Keith's camera.
Steve, looking stylish and back from his inspirational trip to Le-Tour rode
a good comeback ride of 27:14. Arthur, bravely rode when he was still in
recovery mode after his epic 100mile Time Trial on Sunday finished with
23:12. Keith went back a bit to complete in 24:19.

n between the storms we managed to race but a few were caught out towards
the end in a torrential downpour.
All the riders agreed that tonight was not a good night for fast times.
The brisk south westerly picked up speed and was head on along the stretch
from the Motorway to the Rainford Island. Although it was following on the
turn it didn't balance out the slow bits and everybody went back about a
minute.
Sorry no photos tonight, Photographer Keith was unable to make it and luckily
avoided what would have been a soaking.
