Welcome to the surreal world of time trialing reviews starting with a weather
forecast or rather backcaste cos we've already had it. Still with me? "Turned
out sunny again", "a say it turned out sunny again Malcolm...",
but not without the slightest hint of a draft,
just like a feather duster wafting in your face, NOT... if only.. it was great
for flying kites.
I digress, terribly sorry chaps, must be the Murphy's
recovery drink taking effect.
For some riders the wind apparently goes straight through them with seemingly
no effect at all, bizarre! Or maybe they actually have a decent pair of legs.
(of the two this is probably the more likely).
Anyhow, to continue, Arthur and Keith both battled the wind and Arthur battled
harder and finished with 23:31. Keith finished way down with 24:57, but not
for the lack of trying.
Thanks to the 'boys' for cheering us on to greater glory and commiserations
to George for getting stuck touching his toes, fortunately he was not in Garlans
at the time.
Top of the pile of 16 riders was Mr Ludden with 22:27,from the FORZA team,
normally seen winning on a Thursday (except when J.Stewart is riding).

TUESDAY TEN, 24TH JUNE 2008
Nice and mild tonight but cloudy with rain in the distance,OK I guess, not
perfect because of the mild to moderate S. Easterly. A larger turnout than
of late; 23 riders all fit and rearing to go.
Steve, Arthur and Keith are the team of three from the Phoenix, but no prize
for that.
The three of us are in agreement that we all seem to
be stuck in a rut, Arthur is doing great times close to the 23 mark but his
best times are just around the corner. Steve is consistent but also stuck
and his better times have not yet arrived. Keith is still struggling to beat
the magic 24, seemingly with more effort each week but without the rewards.
Such are the joys of time trialing.
I'm not quite sure whether Joan passed me a compliment
tonight or she was being a tad facetious. Back in the club house she asked
if I had raced tonight. I think my quick recovery from a collapsed heap in
the car park and the costume change to my pin stripe suit and tie somewhat
disguised my earlier effort.......Or maybe I just didn't try hard enough!!!!
Some photos should be here but for some reason the memory card appears to
be blank.
Arthur: 23:06 (second from 23)
Keith: 24:12
Steve: 27:14
