Championship 25 tonight and the conditions were as good as you get, warm with hardly a whisper of wind.
Arthur and Keith were riding and we were also honoured with the presence of Wellheld. He was kitted out and appeared ready to race, YES ready to race.
Although his pink 'T' shirt didn't have 'Phoenix C.C. Aintree' across the middle the number 9 was clearly visible so he WAS serious and about to race.
As usual Wellheld had forgotten his specs, and so he took along a timepiece he could read without the need for his bin lids. See photo below

Rumor had it that we were expecting another celebrity racer, but in the heat of the moment he changed his mind (some might call it something else, perhaps to do with bottling) but not me,no.

It was a tough race, pushing hard with no help from the wind anywhere on the course, unusual because we almost always detect the wind at some point on the circuit.

Without doubt a hero, his first 25 in countless years Wellheld put in a remarkable ride on his road bike with a time of 1:05:22. Arthur put in a great ride of 59:12 but he is still expecting more from his new frame. I was not disappointed with my time of 1:04:32.

There was a new kid on the block, R.Handley, he's not in our club but certainly worth a mention because he had a great ride and finished with a time of 53:58.
