4th August 2009
Warm and sunny with a slight unidirectional wind, or it seemed that way on the course. Pleasing times for most with Arthur and Wellheld having an exceptional ride, Arthur produced his second fastest Tuesday ride this season with a 22:10 and Wellheld giving us his fastest time for a long while with a 23:22. Keith improved on his previous ten with a 24:28

The Phoenix (Tuesday) Nights boys were 1st 2nd and 4th overall.

Only two more 10's remaining and still time for records to be broken.

Thanks to Keith Linge for the great shots. Thanks also to the girls on the top island for their screams of encouragement as we hurtled around the aroundabout.

Quite quiet with only 9 riders, there should have been 10 but Wellheld thought,' slippery roads, three roundabouts, hard tarmac no race for me'.
Not a bad decision in the end as it was more testing than expected. Not much wind so pushing hard all the way around. Some light drizzle to cool us down in the humid 18deg evening air.
Arthur also gave it a miss tonight, so there were lots of cheering marshals as I gingerly circumnavigated the Rainford Island, thanks.

Next Tuesday is our final ten.

1 J.Williamson (Warrington RC) 22:24
2 P.Washington (L'pool Century) 23:49
3 A Chalmer (Leigh Prem) 24:12
4 S.Bray (CATI) 24:51
5 K Williams (Phoenix) 24:55
6 W. Dean (Southport) 25:50
7 I Stuart (PERC) 25:56
8 R Ashton (Leigh Prem) 26:49
9 C Reynolds (Leigh Prem) 27:56

The last ten of the season encouraged a few more of the Phoenix fraternity to venture out again and give it a go. We saw Docker once again riding with style on his immaculately turned out cycle. Also out again after a very long lay off was Ian Humphreys, both riders producing excellent rides for there first (and last ) race this season. Ian was particularly pleased with his time.
We look forward to seeing both Steve and Ian here next season challenging for the series/handicap trophies.
Wellheld, rested and raring to go was not completely satisfied with his ride but nevertheless impressed us with a time of 24:09, which was fourth overall from 18 riders on a deceptively difficult evening.
Wellheld: 24:09
Ian : 27:08
Docker : 27:30
