| The
early Sunday start on what turned out to be the hottest day of the year
made for ideal conditions during the Kavanagh Open 25.
A light breeze was encountered for the first 5 miles or so until they
reached the bypass. The riders then had a side breeze for most of the
remaining miles. A following wind was only experienced for short distances.
From my marshalling point by the Church, No.6,
T. Lowe, riding a trim bike with a fixed gear, was making good time and
gaining on his minute man.
As the race progressed and the
home stretch was in sight the faster riders had made their mark and it
was going to be close finish.
Back at the score board the results were coming in and S.Hulme (57:26)
had a tense wait until J.Stewart finished.
With everything crossed but to no avail, J Stewart finished just 15 seconds
quicker.
Fastest Man: J.Stewart, 57:11(Kirkby C.C)
Second : S.Hulme, 57:26(Team Velocity)
Third: N, Higgins, 59:18 (Preston C.C.)
First female rider was J. Hassell, 1:08:27 (Cheshire Cons. C.C) and 2nd
was Linda Tully (Kirkby C.C.)
Fastest team was from the Kirkby C.C.
