Perfect
conditions for the time trial greeted all the competitors, warm, dry and
calm although the busier than normal traffic caused some problems for
a number of riders.
Charging down the lane and onto the dual carriageway the riders soon settled
into the groove and pushed hard into the slight breeze coming across from
the East.
It was the Weatsheaf Island that became very busy at times and the traffic
caused a number of riders to come to a standstill.
From my vantage point the fast riders looked close on times and speed.
it was going to be nail-biting finish.
Back at the score sheet the times were coming in and number 10 , S Hulme's
(Team Velocity) 21:32 was holding the lead for some time. Number 20, P.Ware,(St.
Helens C.R.C.) was the next rider to challenge for the lead with 21:40.
Very hot on his heels was Number 50, Junior rider J.Stewart, (Kirkby C.C)
with 21:41.
Fastest Lady rider was Mrs. K.Lovatt, (Team Luciano) 24:38.
