Manchester and District 10TT (J2/3) April 2nd 2011
Two weeks on from our first outing of the season and we're back for another crack at the J2/3 as the season warm up continues.
Arthur was off at 15.35 and I at 15.03pm. Knowing the course and getting a relatively early start time pays dividends here. The weather had been quite windy early on but as the afternoon progressed the wind subsided and the clouds made way for glorious sunshine.
As I took up my position the question I was asking myself is why? Two weeks ago it was tuff but to come here again for another battering seemed illogical. I was also ready to remonstrate the start man if he didn't hold me straight. No complaints this time, he must have been sober and the NASA countdown clear and precise set me on my way.
My run down to the main road was a disaster, no rhythm or fluency and a slow turn at the bottom (I really should warm up better). Again out passed Jodrell Bank and down the dips up to the roundabout, it felt much shorter than before and at the turn I was revved up, pushing hard and feeling good. I misjudge the finish and started to wind it up much further out than I would normally but held it to the line. Meanwhile out at the Chelford Island Arthur was attacking the roundabout like a speedway Evil Knievel. He came off but to his credit put himself straight back on the bike and pushed for the finish. This is the stuff that champions are made of.
SR
Arthur got 24.57 (A great result considering he came off) and I got 22.18.
